The Himalayan mountain range and Tibetan plateau have formed as a result of the collision between the Indian Plate and Eurasian Plate which began 50 million years ago and continues today. 225 million years ago (Ma) India was a large island situated off the Australian coast and separated from Asia by the Tethys Ocean.

There was a huge landmass called Pangaea.
And the two land was divided as Ankara and Gondawana land.
Between them was a sea Tethys Sea.
And when the due to thermal heat of the earth the convergent,divergent and transform boundaries the land was uplifted and formed as Himalayas.

Their height is also increasing now and one day will come when the northern Indian plate part would sink into it .
