If you take my son’s age and multiply it by one and a half times his age you get 24. How old is my son?
soumili14:
hey!! why are wasting so many points??
X²×3/2=24
X²=24×2/3
X²=16
Taking square root both the sides we get
X=4
So the age of son is 4 years.
Some of you may get confused that while taking square root we get both positive and negative values but remember we are trying to calculate age of son which should be always positive.

Let the age of 'your' son be x,
So, the equation will be ,
x×(X×3/2)=24
x²×3/2=24
x²=24×2/3
X²=16
Therefore the age of ur son will be 4!!!

Let the son's age be x years
One and a half years means 1.5x
According to the given condition
x × 1.5x = 24
☛ 1.5x² = 24
1.5 means 3/2
So,
☛ 3/2x² = 24
☛ x² = 24 × 2/3
24 gets divided by 3
☛ x² = 8 × 2
☛ x² = 16
Taking square root on both the sides
☛ x = 4
∴ The present age of son is
Let's check the solution :-
x × 1.5x = 24
By putting the value of x as 4
☛ 4 × 1.5 × 4 = 24
☛ 6 × 4 = 24
☛ 24 = 24
∴ LHS = RHS
Hence, the present age of son is 4 years
