fluffy: Let the center of the circle be x
Then if we join A to x and B to x
The measure from A to x = 5cm
The measure from B to x = 5cm
So, the total measure from A to B = 10cm
By Pythagoras theorem in triangle APB
Ab^2 = PA^2 + PB^2
Since AB^2 = 100cm
So, PA^2 + PB^2 = 100cm

A and B are points on the circumference of the circle.  AB is a chord.

We Know that in a circle, the diameter subtends 90° at any point on the circumference.  Alternately, if a chord subtends a right angle at a point on the circle, then the chord is a diameter.

Hence,  AB is the diameter.

Hence AB = 2 * radius = 2 * 5 = 10  units.

PAB is a right angle triangle:   So  AB² = PA² + PB²  by Pythagoras theorem.

Hence,  Answer = 10² = 100 units²
