To find :  Which of the following statements is true

Solution:

Brand A:

chocolate chips   12 ounces costs = $3

chocolate chips 1 ounce    cost  = $3/12 = $0.25

Brand B :

chocolate chips 15 ounces  cost  = $4

chocolate chips  1 ounce   cost  = $4/15 = $0.267  

0.25 < 0.267  

Brand A has the better unit price

Given :-

Brand A of chocolates: $3 for 12 ounces

→ 1 ounce = $3/12

                = $0.25

Brand B of chocolates: $4 for 15 ounces

→ 1 ounce = $4/15

                = $0.26

It can be seen that Brand A has a lesser price for 1 ounce than Brand B by $0.01.

∴ Brand A has the better unit price.
