Given :- Brandon earns a rebate each month on his meals and movie tickets. He earns $0.50 for each movie ticket and $2 for each meal. Last month Brandon purchased 22 movie tickets and earned $25.

Solution :-

Part A :- Create an equation that will determine the number of meals he purchased.

Let us assume that , brandon purchased x number of meal tickets last month.

Now,

→ He earned in each movie ticket = 0.5 $

So,

He earned on 22 movie tickets = 22 * 0.5 = $11 .

and,

He earned in each meal ticket = 2 $

So,

→ He earned on x meal tickets = 2 * x = $2x .

Therefore,

→ In last month he earned total = Earned on movie ticket + earned on meals ticket .

Hence,

→ Earned on movie ticket + earned on meals ticket .

11 + 2x = 25 (Ans.)

Part B: Solve this equation justifying each step with an algebraic property of equality.

Solving this equation,

→ 11 + 2x = 25

Taking 11 , RHS side, sign will change,

→ 2x = 25 - 11

→ 2x = 14

dividing both sides by 2 now,

x = 7. (Ans.)

Part C: How many meals did Brandon purchase last month ?

Hence, Brandon purchased 7 meals last month.
