The white elephant of Ruskin bond

              Once upon a time there lived a group of many elephants in the Himalayas. The head of those was white elephant which is very kind heart. He was having a mother which is blind and cannot feed for him. So that white elephant searched for food and used to feed her mother daily. But unfortunately daily he could not find food because all the other elephants used to consume fruits and veggies. So he migrated to forest named Mount Candorana.

              One day a person from Benaras forgot his way and was shouting loudly for the help. The white elephant went near to him and came to know his problem and elephant took him to his city safely. On reaching, he came to know that King Brahmadutta’s elephant died and was in search of new elephant. So this forester suggested about the White elephant. On listening to the forester’s story, King sent all the soldiers to bring that White elephant.

              All went in search, and finally after two days they found the white elephant. Thinking that he can convince the king, White elephant went with them. The mother of White elephant was worried very much that king would lead his son in the battle and his son would die. There in Benaras king arranged a grand reception to all. When trainers started to feed, white elephant refused instead sat quietly.

             Trainers informed everything to king. Later King came to elephant and asked the reason for this behaviour. White elephant said he would not eat anything until he sees his mother. King asked where his mother is. White elephant told everything about her mother that she is blind and she has to be feed by me. King got touched by elephant’s story and set him free. With the happiness and over joy, elephant went to his mother by running and told all story to her. Her mother thanked and blessed king that let his kingdom to be joy and in everlasting happiness.
