THE POLICY OF PARAMOUNTCY :-
The Policy Of Paramountcy was introduced by LORD HASTINGS ( Rawdon Hastings ; Many get confused that Warren Hastings introduced it but it's not ),Who was the Governor General Of Bengal From 1813 to 1823.
According to this policy , the company made false claims that it's authority was supreme than that of Indian kings or Nawabs .
As the company's decisions were more supreme , it suggested the Indian states to surrender to the British and then Indian kings would have to administrate their Kingdom as a puppet ruler .

Explanation:
Under Lord Hastings, a new policy of "Paramountcy" was introduced. The East India Company pursued an aggressive territorial expansion in the 18th century. Under this policy, the Company claimed that its authority was paramount or supreme, hence its power was greater than that of Indian states.
