Aves comes under the Vertebrae classification.

Aves is nothing but the group of birds or you can say flying organisms.

1) They have light bones.

2) Their exoskeleton is made of feathers

3) Their limbs are modified into wings .

4) They are warm blooded that have four chambered heart.

5) The females lay eggs.

For example - Humming bird, Pigeon, Owl,etc.

CLASS - AVES:-

→ The characteristic features are the presence of feathers and most of them can fly except flightless birds

Ex:- Ostrich.

→ They possess beak.

→ The forelimbs are modified into wings.

→ Skin is dry without glands except the oil gland at the base of the tail.

→ Endoskeleton is fully ossified and the long bones are hollow with air cavities.

→ The digestive tract of birds has additional chambers, the crop and gizzard.

→ Heart is completely four chambered.

→ They are warm-blooded animals, i.e., they are able to maintain a constant body temperature.

→ Respiration is by lungs. Air sacs connected to lungs supplement respiration.

→ Sexes are separate.

→ Fertilisation is internal. They are oviparous and development is direct.

Examples:- Corvus, Columba, Psittacula, Struthio, Pavo, Aptenodytes, Neophron.
