Since he returned, distance is same

Average speed = total distance / total time

= 2X / 3.5 h

Average of 12&9 = 12+9/2= 21/2 = 10.5 kmph

10.5 = 2X / 3.5

10.5 * 3.5 = 2X

36.75 = 2X

X = 36.75/2

. = 18.375 m

approx 18.4m
