Brianna’s family spent $134 on 2 adult tickets and 3 youth tickets at an amusement park. Max’s family spent $146 on 3 adult tickets and 2 youth tickets. What is the price of a youth ticket? and the adult ticket

Answer:

134=2x + 3y

146=3x + 2y

multiplying 3 on equation 1 and multiplying 2 on equation 2

so it becomes

402=6x+9y

292=6x+4y

subtracting eq2 from eq1

110 = 5y

y = $22

then

134 = 2x + 3(22)

68 = 2x

x= $34

x=$34 and y=$22
