a) area of brick when upright = 5 cm*10 cm = 50cm sq

pressure= force/ area

= 2.5/50/100*100

= 2.5*10000/50

=500 Pa

b) area of the widest base = 25cm*10cm = 250cm sq

pressure = 2.5/250/100*100

= 2.5*10000/250

= 100 Pa
