THYROID GLAND :

Thyroid gland is an endocrine gland. It is present in the neck.It consist of two connected lobes.

• Location : It is located below the Adam's apple.
• Hormone secretion : It's secretes the hormones :- triiodothyronine, thyroxine, piptide hormone.
• Protection : It is covered by a thin fibrous capsule, which has an inner and outer layer.
• Structure : It is a butterfly shaped gland.
• Colour : It is brownish - red in colour.
• The thyroid secretes hormones are known as thyroid hormones.
• There are two main types of thyroid disease : hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
