\huge\bigstar\underline\mathfrak\red{Cytoplasm}

It is a gel like fluid present in the cell in between the nucleus and the cell membrane. Large amount of it is composed of water. Other organic and inorganic materials are also present in it in the form of cellular pool. This region takes very little stain.

Functions :

  • All the biochemical reactions take place inside it.
  • It contains the cell Organelles and Nucleus in it. In prokaryotic cells, it also contain genetic material ( DNA ) scattered in it.
  • In some organisms, like Amoeba and Paramecium, it remains in continuous motion and distributes the substances ( nutrients of Oxygen ) throughout the cell. Its movement is called cyclosis or cytoplasmic streaming.

Cytoplasm : Cytoplasm is a thick jelly like solution that is filled inside the cell.

All the cell organelles are suspended inside it.

In eukaryotes, who have their prominent nucleus, has their own cytoplasm named as nucleoplasm.

The content between the nuclear membrane and cell membrane is known as cytoplasm in a eukaryotic cell. Since, in prokaryotic cells, nucleus doesn't has any membrane, the cytoplasm covers the whole cell body.

Functions of cytoplasm :

1) It gives a definite shape to cell.

2) It keeps Organelles in their position.

3) It contains enzyme which perform various function like breaking of waste and metabolic activities.
