Power sharing is a chapter which takes us through the concept of why power must be shared among different categories of people in a country equally and why not doing so can endanger an entire country.
In the first section, we see two examples of Belgium and Sri Lanka.
In Sri Lanka, power is not shared equally among all citizens on the basis of the language they speak. This unjust action brought about a Civil War in the country which affected all citizens adversely.
In Belgium, power is shared equally among all citizens regardless of their residence and the language they speak. The violence seen in Sri Lanka is hence avoided in this country.
In the second section we see how power is shared in India. Constitutionally, India does not discriminate between citizens on the basis of language, religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. In the government, we can see horizontal and vertical power of sharing.
The vertical power sharing is done among the legislature, executive and judiciary. They are placed at equal levels and this system ensures no abuse of power by 'check and balance.'
The horizontal power sharing is done among the levels of the government. The Central Government is the highest authority, followed by State Governments and finally Local Governments.
This is the brief theory of the chapter
