Answer :
Golgi Apparatus :-
- It was firstly observed by Camillo Golgi in 1898.
- The Golgi apparatus is also called as Golgi bodies or Golgi complex.
- It is found near the nucleus.
- It consists of flat disc shaped sacs or cisternae.
- The diameter of this cisternae is about 0.5 μm to 1 μm.
- These secs are parallel to each other.
- There is no fixed number of cisternae present in a Golgi complex.
- They are concentrically arranged.
- The two different face of formation of Golgi apparatus includes convex cis and concave trans.
- The convex cis is the face which is said to be the forming phase and concave trans face in is said to be the maturing face.
- These both faces are entirely different from each other, but they are interconnected.
- The principal function of a golgi apparatus is packaging materials that that has to be delivered either inside the cell or outside the cell.
- The materials are packed in vesicles.
- The golgi apparatus is closely associated with endoplasmic reticulum.
- The endoplasmic reticulum fuse and cis face of the Golgi apparatus pack the materials in the vesicles.
- Then, the vesicles move towards the maturing face.
- Some proteins that are formed in endoplasmic reticulum are modified in Golgi apparatus.
- Also, Golgi apparatus is said to be the important site for the formation of glycoproteins and glycolipids.
