During the Spanish Civil War as everyone was fleeing from one place to another, the narrator who incidentally was also a soldier saw an old man crossing the bridge with a herd of animals.
As the narrator was travelling in a truck, he asked the old man to ride in leaving the animals, but he refused to move without the animals.
The narrator had no choice but to move on feeling sad thinking the consequences of the old man.
