PITCH:

  • You might have heard that girls usually have high-pitched voice as compared to boys after puberty.

  • Pitch is actually the characteristics of sound by which a shrill note is distinguished from a flat note.

  • It depends upon the frequency (Directly proportional) The no. of oscillations or cycles per second determiness the pitch of the sound.

WAVELENGTH:

  • It is the distance travelled by one complete cycle or the distance between two consecutive crests or trough.

  • As it is the measure of length, the unit is metre (m) and is represented by \lambda

  • The product of frequency and wavelength determines the speed of the sound.

INTENSITY:

  • Intensity is the objective quantity whereas loudness is the subjective quantities which is evaluated by our ear.

  • It is the amount of energy flowing per unit time through a unit area that is perpendicular to the direction in which the sound waves are travelling.

  • It is directly proportional to the square of Amplitude and the human ear is sensitive to sound intensity of 0-180 dB.

Pitch:

--1 : highness or lowness of sound. 2 : amount of slope The roof has a steep pitch. 3 : an up-and-down movement the pitch of a ship. 4 : the throw of a baseball or softball to a batter. 5 : the amount or level of something (as a feeling) Excitement reached a high pitch.

Intensity:

--1 : the quality or state of being intense especially : extreme degree of strength, force, energy, or feeling. 2 : the magnitude of a quantity (such as force or energy) per unit (as of area, charge, mass, or time).

♤Wavelength:

--Wavelength can be defined as the distance between two successive crests or troughs of a wave. ... Wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency. This means the longer the wavelength, lower the frequency. In the same manner, shorter the wavelength, higher will be the frequency.

♤Example of Pitch:

--An example of pitch is putting up a tent. ... An example of pitch is a baseball being tossed at a bat.

♤Example of Intensity:

--An example of intensity is having the ability to run miles on end at a top speed. An example of intensity is how quickly a treadmill is moving.

♤Example of Wavelength:

--An example of wavelength is the distance between the crest of two waves. An example of wavelength is when you and another person share the same general attitude and can thus communicate well.
