Dronacharya was the son of Rishi Bharadwaja and Apsara named Ghritarchi and a disciple of Parashurama, accomplished in Dharnuvidya. He was the guru of the five sons of Pandu and hundred sons of Dhritarashtra in Kuru Pradesh. He was the commander of the Kaurava side at the time of the Mahabharata war. Eklavya's name is notable among other disciples of Guru Dronacharya. He cut off the thumb of his right hand when Dronacharya asked for Guru Dakshina. Kauravao and Pandavas got education of arms and weapons in Dronacharya's ashram itself. Arjuna was a dear disciple of Dronacharya. He wanted to make Arjuna the best archer in the world.
