Apparatus Required  =>

• Zinc powder

• Beaker

• 2M sulphuric acid

• Filter funnel and filter paper

• Source of heat

• Evaporating basin

Procedure  =>

1) Place 100ml of sulphuric acid into a beaker and add zinc powder little by little while stirring until no more effervescence occurs, or until some little zinc powder remains unreacted.

2)With the help of the filter paper filter out the undissolved/unreacted metal and divide the filterate into two.

3) Heat one portion to dryness while the other one should be heated until the volume reduces by about half then cover the solution with filter paper and leave it for day or two.

Crystals of zinc sulphate is obtained.
