The Japanese system differs in that the emperor while in control of the county delicat d military and martial responsibilities to a feudal war lord of the same standing in actuality called the shogun.

While lords were almost always additionally knights , daimyo while having martial training as a course of gentleman pursuits were in fact less proficient than hired warriors called samurai which might be seen as the equivalent of knights however had loyalty to thier daimyo only through contractual servitude and would raise armies of serfs as needed .
While both had a concept of Devine right given to the king or emperor , the European system was based loosely upon the Roman system and was heavily co teollthe d and influenced by the church at least until Henry viii and remained a strong influence in France Germany and Spain beyond that
The emperor in japan while having both Devine powers , duties , and obligation was not subject to as organized a religion as the Roman Catholic Church .
