The areas which harsh and unbearable climatic condition are sparsely populated. These either extremely hot or extremely cold. They are not favourable for habitation. Most of the prominent sparsely populated extremely hot desert such as the Sahara desert, the Australian desert, the Kalahari Desert and the Arabian desert. Tundra region in the north and the polar lands of Antarctica in the south are sparsely populated.
