the roman education system was based on Greek system and many of the private tutors in the roman system were Greek slaves of freedmen. education was very important to the ancient Romans. the rich people in ancient Rome put a great deal of faith in education. while in poor, the ancient Rome are not receive a formal education, many still learned to read and write. in general, schools as we recognise them were boys only. education in ancient Rome influenced the development of educational systems western civilization. in the earliest stages roman education thus not only provided the basic skills necessary for survival, but also the traditional social code that created a coherent society.
