The first war of India`s independence, also called the Indian Rebellion of 1857 first started on 10th May, 1857.
There were lot of reasons for the above revolt. Some of them are mentioned below.
1. The British and the Indian soldiers were treated differently. It was found that the British soldiers behaved ruled with Indian soldiers.
2. During January 1857, there were rumors going around that the English cartridges were greased with animal fat of cow and pigs which was unacceptable to both the Hindus and the Muslims working in the British army.
The revolt, however, failed for various reasons. Some of them were as follows:
1. The uprising was centered on specific regions like Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Arrah, Agra, Delhi, and Jhansi which were very far away from each other which led to communication gap between their leaders.
2. Lack of central leadership.
