he followed a policy of sever control and punishment . he rationed bread and everyone had to eat equality bread. shopkeeprs were forced to sell the bread on the prices fixed by the government. he followed his policy so relentlessly that even his own supporters began to demand moderation

The reign of terror started in 1793 and continued till 1794. The policies of Robespierre and the Reign of Terror were:

• Maximillian Robespierre followed a policy of severe control and punishment.

• Equal distribution of meat and bread.

• The maximum upper limit was set on wages and prices.

• Citizens were made to eat loaf made of whole wheat.

• Churches were closed down and their buildings were made into barracks and offices, etc which were some of the policies followed by him.

• He also jailed and punished all those people who didn’t agree with his policies.

• He Guillotined (it is a device, named after Dr Guillotin, which has two poles and a blade with which the person is beheaded) the individuals whom he found guilty
