A description of the shape of a cell is called the cell morphology.

Cells show large variations when it comes to their shapes and sizes .

Ranging from smallest cells - Mycoplasma to largest cells - ostrich egg
and from rod shaped bacilli bacteria , long cuboidal epithilium cells to branched cells like nerve cell .

The common morphologies of bacterial cells are spherical cell - cocci ; rod shaped cells - bacilli and spiral shaped - spirochaetes .

Inside human body , cell morphology ranges from flat squamous cells , cuboidal , columnar epithelial cells  , spindle shaped muscle cells , branched , biconcave blood cells , amoeboid WBCs , branched nerve cells(neurons) ....and so on.

There are organisms like paramecium having weird oval , slipper shape too....
