Steps involved in breeding of plants are :
1. Collecting the variablity
This is the 1st step for the breeding of plants. Different varieties of crops and species are collected and are preserved.
2. Evaluating the varities and selecting parents.
Evaluation of the germplasm is done and plants with desired features are identified.
3. Cross hybridisation between selected ones.
The plants with desired characters are then crossed.
4. Selecting the superior progeny.
The progenies are selected which consist the desired character. The selected ones are then used for commercial purposes.
