Answer:

here is ur answer..

Water potential quantifies the tendency of water to move from one part to the other during various cellular processes such as diffusion, osmosis, etc. It is denoted by the Greek letter Psi or Ψ and is expressed in Pascals (Pa). ... When some solute is dissolved in water, the water potential of pure water decreases.

hope it helps

Water Potential

Water potential is the potential energy of water per unit volume relative to pure water in reference conditions.

Water potential quantifies the tendency of water to move from one area to another due to osmosis, gravity, mechanical pressure, or matrix effects such as capillary action.

Factors on Water Potential Depends:-

Adding solute lowers the water potential.

When a solution is enclosed by a rigid cell wall, the movement of water into the cell will exert pressure on the cell wall.

This increase in pressure within the cell will raise the water potential.

There are two components to water Potential:-

  • Solute Concentration
  • Pressure.
