Mahatma Gandhi

According to Mahatma Gandhi, the Western Educational system was not good for Indian culture. He also thought that modern western education will only modernize the people of India rather than educate them.  

Tagore

Tagore had completely opposite views. He felt that modern education (science and technology) is necessary for India to compete with the world. He promoted art, musical, scientific and technological knowledge.

  • Gandhiji was against the idea of introduction of the western system of learning in India. He believed in the virtues of Indian system and the traditions that make Indian people unite. According to him, the western ideas were good in modernizing the people in many ways but it didn’t provide knowledge or neither educate.
