Plants absorb water from the soil by osmosis. Root hair cells are adapted for this by having a large surface area to speed up osmosis. The absorbed water is transported through the roots to the rest of the plant where it is used for different purposes: It is a reactant used in photosynthesis.

The plants have roots which helps it to absorb the water from the soil. Water is very essential for the plants thus the plants have developed certain organs which can absorb, transport and store the water.

For the absorption of the water the plants have developed its roots and the root is subdivided into root hairs. The xylem is a tissue which is responsible for the transport of the water through the plants.

The process of transpiration is the most responsible for the absorption of the water through the roots. The transpiration is the process of evaporation of the water of the tree from the leaf, it occurs because of the heat from the sun.
This process creates a rather different on the plant as the negative pressure of the water vapour develops into the surrounding cells of the leaf. And once this occurs then the water is pulled into the leaf from xylem and this pulling of the water helps in the absorption of the water from the soil by the root.
