Transpiration is the loss of water absorbed by the roots of plants through stomata by the process of evaporation. So due to loss of water through evaporation , a suction or we can say vacuum or pull creates due to which the water in xylem automatically moves upwards.

Transpiration is the evaporation of water. from the surface of the leaves through stomata

as water is lost due to transpiration from leaves. due to evaporation , water is taken up by the roots. due to transportational pull this leads to upward conduction of water
