Briefly explain Public distribution system?

the food procured by the FCI is distributed through government regulated ration shops among the poorer section of society. This is called the public distribution system (PDS).

The Indian government wanted to overcome some problems,like-hoarding, black -marketing and overcharging by the traders and manufacturers. Therefore, a new scheme was started by the government, which is known as Public Distribution System.
