Sampling error is the difference between the population parameter and the sample statistic used to estimate it.
A population parameter is a number that describes the whole parameter. Example of population parameter can be population mean, while a sample statistic describes a sample of the whole population. For example if we take a sample from the population and then calculate the mean of that sample then it is called sample mean and this is a sample statistic or sample parameter.
Sampling error is therefore the difference between the population parameter and the sample parameter. Sampling error is the error due to sampling.
