India has some of the largest mineral deposits of the world. The important mineral deposits found in our country are coal, iron ore, manganese, mica and bauxite. While it ranks 4th in the world for coal deposits, iron ore and manganese deposits are the 7th largest in the world, followed by mica and bauxite which stand at the 5th place.
Coal is used mainly in the power sector in India. With increasing concerns on pollution, the sector is gradually trying to move away to other forms of clean energy.
