The main function of Liver is to secrete "Bile juice" which helps in the digestion of food.
The characteristics of Liver are as follows :-
- The liver is the largest gland of our body.
- The liver is located just above the stomach, under the Diaphragm.
- The liver is attached to the posterior concavity of the diaphragm by a fold of "Peritonium" called "Falciform ligament".

- The liver of an average adult human being weighs about 1.4 kg (4 lbs).
- The liver of a human being is divided into four lobes, namely- the "Right lobe", the "Left lobe", the "Caudate lobe" and the "Quadrate lobe".
- The liver of a rabbit is divided into 5 parts: 3 lobes on the left are named as- the "Spelgian lobe", the "Left lateral lobe" and the "Left central lobe", while the two lobes on the right side, are named as- the "Caudate lobe" and the "Right central lobe".
- The "Right central lobe" in the liver of rabbits, is also known as the "Cystic lobe".
