Griffith's experiment showed that bacteria are capable of transferring genetic information through a process known as transformation.
In the experiment it was observed that heat killed S-III when added with R-II strain caused the death of the mice and on isolation S-III were recovered. R-II strain are non-pathogenic but still caused the death, which gave a conclusion that the dead S-III strain somehow transferred their genetic material to R-II and converted them to S-III and killed the mice.
