when salts of calcium and magnesium dissolve in water it makes water hard.
There are 2 types of hardness:
1- TEMPORARY HARDNESS =when bicarbonate of calcium and magnesium dissolves in water.

2- PERMANENT HARDNESS = when chloride and sulphates of Mg and Ca dissolves in water.
