LEGISLATIVE POWERS

1) The governor is an inseparable part of the state legislature and as such he/she has been given certain legislative powers .

2) He/she has the right to summon and prorogue the state legislature and can dissolve the state legislative assembly .

3) He/she nominates one person of Anglo Indian community as a member of legislative Assembly in case the community is not represented .


EXECUTIVE POWERS

1) The governor appoints the leader of majority party as the Chief Minister .

2) He appoints the Council of Minister , Advocate General , chairman and members of the state public commission .

3) He also appoints the judges of the sub-ordinate courts .

4) He/she also ensures strict observation of the directions of the Union government and the executive of laws made by Parliament in state .

5) Governor is the nominal head . Thus , he exercises all his executive powers on the aid and advice of council of ministers .
