Prospero was so much absorbed in secret studies that he left the administration of the state in the hands of his brother Antonio. Antonio , being cunning, knew whom to promote and whom to discourage. He changed the loyalty of those who were devoted to Prospero. He came to fully control the state. He began to behave like the real Duke. With the help of his loyal men and the king of Naples he was able to oust Prospero from his dukedom.
