After arriving in India, Mahatma Gandhi organised several Satyagraha Movements in various places:

• Champaran: In 1917 he travelled to Champaran in Bihar to inspire the peasants to struggle against the exploitative plantation system.
• These peasants were very much worried due to crop failure and a plague epidemic.
