Transportation is a process of transporting water, minerals and food to all parts of the plant body. Conducting tissues such as xylem and phloem will play an important role in Transportation. Water is transported from roots to all parts of the plant by xylem vessels through root hairs.

Plants have pipe-like vessels for the transport of materials. They are made up of special cells,  forming the vascular tissues.

 Transport of water and nutrients from the root to the leaves is through the vascular

tissues called Xylem.

 Food synthesized in the leaves is transported to all parts of the plant through the

vascular tissues called Phloem.

Thus, xylem and phloem transport substances in plants.
