Briefly explain two causes of wild life depletion and deforestation.
Answers
Factors Responsible for the Depletion of Wildlife
1) Loss of Wildlife Species Eventually leads to Extinction of a Particular Set of Animal Species. Normally in The Wild, if the Animals do not get adequate Food or Water during a Famine or drought they will perish without Human or a Country’s Forest Department’s assistance.
2) Similarly, in Forest Fires, Many Plants, Trees, Birds, Reptiles, Insect species & Animals get Engulfed by fire – So they will also lose their lives if the Forest fires are not doused on time.
3) Deforestation and Habitat Loss due to Developmental Works & Timber related Tree felling carried out by Human beings also cause untold damage to an Ecosystem and Many Animals are deprived of their Forests and a Safe abode.
4) Hunting and Poaching of Animals also causes a Depletion of a Species of animals in number count.
5) Uncontrolled Fishing and Over Exploitation of Marine resources by Humans are also responsible for Extinction of Aquatic & Amphibious varieties of Animals and reptiles.
Deforestation
Deforestation is when forests are destroyed by cutting trees (logging) and not replanting them. Sometimes deforestation happens when people change lands into farms, ranches and cities. The most common cause for deforestation is obtaining wood and fuel.
causes
Deforestation causes can either be direct or indirect.
Among direct causes are:
1) Natural causes as hurricanes, fires, parasites and floods
2) Human activities as agricultural expansion, cattle breeding, timber extraction, mining, oil extraction, dam construction and infrastructure development.
Among indirect causes are:
1) Insufficient political actions and governance failure as inadequate land tenure system, corruption, wrong public administration investments
2) Political and socio-economic causes as population growth, military conflicts and climatic changes

Causes of deforestation and wildlife depletion:
- The natural causes of deforestation are hurricanes, fires, parasites, and floods.
- There are some human activities that led to wildlife depletion and deforestation; these are agricultural growth, timber extraction, mining, cattle breeding, oil extraction.
- The loss of trees and further vegetation can cause climate change, desertification, soil destruction, fewer crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and a host of harms for native people.
