Two pathways through which mineral nutrients absorbed from the root to the xylem are apoplast pathway and symplast pathway.

Explanation:

Both the pathways apoplast pathway and symplast pathway supports the movement of nutrients across the root. apoplast allows the water flow in the cortex which enters the symplast pathway in the endodermis.

In the apoplast pathway, water passes through the walls of intervening cells from root hair to xylem, without crossing any membrane or cytoplasm and providing very less resistance to the flow of water.

In the process of symplast pathway, water moves from the series of cells through their protoplasm without entering cell vacuoles. Plasmodesmata connects the cytoplasm of the cells.
