Follice Stimulating hormone is released by the pituitary gland into thr blood streams to regulate functions of both ovaries and testes. It is one of the gonadotrophic hormones. In women it stimulates growth of ovarian follicles in ovary before release of an egg from one follicle at ovulation. In men it stimulates sperm production by acting on the Sertoli cells of testes.
