He won the Olympics and there Long was by his side to congratulate him .
Luz Long was a German athlete and he did not believe in the Nazi Aryan superiority although he was trained and brought up under the German Nazi youth movement.
The 24 carat friendship between him and the author was most remarkable and better than the Olympic gold medal that Jesse Owens won .
