I'll try to list many of the major difference between the two
Ads
Twitter a way less ads than Facebook. I could probably attribute alot of the page's weight to it loading all of them. Twitter has very few of them, or show in your timeline with an image like all of the other tweets.
Social Interaction
Twitter is obviously the most open of the two. I can go to Twitter and talk to anyone like celebrities, highly respected web and software developers, YouTube personalities, etc.
Facebook requires that you friend someone before you can interact with them. Depending on the settings of the other person you may or may not be able to like, comment on, or share the user's post, send them a message, or follow them.
