Contrast Between the Federal government and Unitary Government:

1.Federal Government:
(i)There are two or more levels of government.
(ii)Generally,states are not subordinate to central government.
(iii)Central governments cannot pass orders to state government.
(iv)State Government is not answerable to Central Government.Together State and Central Government are answerable to people.
(v)Examples:India,Belgium.

2.Unitary Government:
(i)There is only one level of government.
(ii)Sub units are subordinate to Central Government.
(iii)Central Government can pass orders to state government.
(iv)Sub units are answerable to Central Government.
(v)Examples:Srilanka.
