Answer:

My Mother at Sixty Six is a poem by a well known Author Kamla Das.

The theme of poem is all about separation from her mother due to the passing of time and getting older day by day.

Although Poem doesn't rhym but it's lyrical quality is good enough to make it as a nice poem.

Now, Come your question What contrast does Kamla Das build in this poem and Why ?

Kamla Das has an tremendous capability of using different poetic devices as she did in this too.

Kamla das used contrast to compare her mother's condition between her young age and old age. She describes her mother’s age as ‘ashen like a corpse’, using simile and compares her to late winter’s moon, using a simile again.

Also, The merry Children playing happily is contrasted with the old and weak mother of her. She compared her mother's weakness with the late winter's moon as well
