The difference between the role of police and the court are:

The police department was set up to serve the interests of the Indian Citizen. An important function if the police is to investigate any complait about a crime. Through the police are expected to investigate crime, not every crime which is detected is expected to result in formal action.

Whereas, the police on other hand, is responsible for maintaining law and order in the state. It arrests the suspect in the basis of a first information report (FIR) filled by the victim or victim's family. This, the police and the court together work in imparting justice to all and maintaining law and order in society.
