Bring out the irony in the sentence, "Nor Mars his sword nor war's quick fire shall burn the living record of your memory". Chapter-Not marbles nor the gilded monuments.

the poet means that his words are so powerful that with time  everything you get destroyed but no power on earth could destroy his written feelings for his friend.and thus it would be preserved and read because of which his friend would be remembered till future generations a well.

The irony in the statement is that the god mars is so powerful who could destroy everything with his sword. Also fire has great powers which can burn everything.

But unfortunately both could not destroy the verses of poet. Verses could withstand with mars and fire.
