bring out the irony in the title of the play The dear departed


Soumaya: at suface the dearest member had died. so there must be lamint and gee but as we have in the poem that there no lamint and gee.

So the family thought that Mr.Abel actually died and Mrs.Jordan tells that it was a "fatal mistake" done by Mrs.Slater as she did not call a doctor to see Mr.Abel , she thought tbe doctor could have helped him fron being dead.But there is no need of doctor because he is actually alive .

the title dear departed signifies that someone has been dead in a family and everyone should regret for it but actually in the story The grandpa did not die and the daughters actually wanted him to die .This is the irony in the title .
